About
I was thinking about cooking before I was born, or so it seems. Nothing fascinates me more than the planning, preparation and presentation of good food.
In the early ‘70’s, I began my career as a chef/caterer. The path between then and now has been fun and exciting and I have loved every minute of it. Some of the stops along that path include:
- Currently the author of a weekly food column, “Food by Jude” for The Union Democrat based in Sonora, CA
- Currently President of Tuolumne County Newcomers Club
- Consulting Chef and caterer in Silicon Valley for over 25 years
- For the last 15 years, specializing in healthy, low fat, recipe creation.
- Lectured at Kaiser, Santa Clara on “gourmet” healthy cooking.
- Wrote and appeared in short series of TV cooking shows for De Anza College, Cupertino, CA
- Former editor of an online lifestyle magazine for RVers (RViva)
- 5 year career as a fashion model during the 1960’s
- Color Consultant for Kelly – Moore Paint Company 1970’s
For the past 15 years my focus has been on healthier recipes, ones lower in fat, sodium and more recently a bit lighter on the carbs – but all within reason. If you eliminate all the foods you love to eat, whatever diet you are on is doomed to failure.
The bottom line is this: if it doesn’t taste good, you’re not going to eat it, and neither am I.
There was a time when I made everything from scratch. I got over it. If a product is as good as I can make it myself, and can save me time, I’m going to use it.
So, that’s it in a rather large nutshell. “Food by Jude” features easy, healthy recipes that taste good.
I also throw in a little history, a bit of science and a few laughs to spice up the meatloaf.
Come on, have a slice, it’s good for you!
